In today’s world, it’s easy to think that we can access whatever we want, whenever we want it. When we have a free window in our diaries.
But some of the best things in life are transient. Here today and gone tomorrow. Like blossom. Blink and you miss it. Walk down the street after a rainstorm and you see the fragile pink petals scattered on the ground like confetti and realise you haven’t raised your eyes to the blossom on the trees until it is too late.
And bluebells. You have to go out of your way to see bluebells. We have to go to Longacre Wood. I love that our bluebell wood is called Longacre Wood. I always expect to see Winnie the Pooh and his gang hanging out down there.
We didn’t go last weekend and Mr R has been busy in London this week and this weekend, we are away…so this morning was our small window of opportunity. It takes an act of will. An intentional decision. Especially in the rain.
But we went. And what a joy it was!
Don’t ever let the greatest things in life pass you by.
